Questions About Online Reading Tutoring?

Everything Florida homeschool and private school families need to know about our structured literacy tutoring, 4-week reading programs, Step Up scholarships, and how sessions work.

Online Reading & Writing Tutoring Services
ClearPath Learning Academy is a Florida online reading specialist offering structured literacy tutoring for grades 3–8. Reading sessions cover fluency, phonics and decoding, comprehension, vocabulary, and phonemic awareness using the UFLI framework. Writing sessions cover sentence structure, paragraph organization, and academic written expression. Sessions can focus on reading only, writing only, or a combination.
Tutoring sessions are 50 minutes. Consultations are either 30 minutes or 1 hour, depending on which you book. All sessions are conducted live via Zoom.
DORA (Diagnostic Online Reading Assessment) is a norm-referenced assessment administered live via Zoom. It tells us exactly where your child is reading and which specific skills need work so instruction is targeted rather than generic. This is how we make sure every session counts. DORA is included at no extra cost with all 4-week reading programs. If your child has already completed a DORA assessment through ClearPath Homeschool Testing, we’ll use those results and waive the assessment.
ClearPath Learning Academy serves students in grades 3–8. If your child is outside that range and you’re not sure if we’re a good fit, reach out and we’ll be straight with you.
The Science of Reading is a body of research spanning cognitive science, linguistics, and education that tells us how the brain learns to read and what kinds of instruction are most effective. It includes structured literacy methods that explicitly and systematically teach phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Florida schools are now required to use Science of Reading-aligned instruction. UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute) is one of the leading structured literacy frameworks and is the foundation of instruction at ClearPath Learning Academy.
Yes. Structured literacy is the Science of Reading-aligned approach that research recommends for students with dyslexia. The explicit, systematic focus on phonics and decoding addresses the foundational skills these students need. The twice-a-week program may be a good fit for students who need more intensive support, including those with dyslexia concerns. If you have concerns about dyslexia or a suspected reading difference, a consultation is a great place to start.
The dyslexia screening is a 15-30 minute live proctored assessment delivered via Zoom by a Florida-certified reading specialist. It evaluates phonological awareness, phonological processing, and decoding skills that are commonly associated with dyslexia. After the session you receive a detailed written summary of findings and recommended next steps that you can share with teachers, therapists, or your child’s pediatrician.

Important: This is an educational screening, not a clinical or psychological evaluation. It does not diagnose dyslexia or any learning disability. If a formal diagnosis is needed, the written summary can support that process with the appropriate professional. Step Up scholarships are accepted for this service.
Yes. A diagnosis tells you what’s going on, but it doesn’t fix the reading gap. The UFLI structured literacy approach used in ClearPath reading programs is specifically designed to work for students with dyslexia. The twice-a-week program is the recommended starting point for these students because the increased frequency builds skills faster. If your child has a recent evaluation on file, bring it to your first session so instruction can be targeted from day one.
4-Week Reading Programs
Both programs include a DORA reading assessment (waived if already done through ClearPath Homeschool Testing), weekly one-on-one Zoom sessions with a FL-certified reading specialist, a high-interest book selected to match your child, UFLI structured literacy instruction targeted to their DORA results, and progress notes emailed after every session. The once-a-week program ($350) includes four sessions over four weeks. The twice-a-week program ($650) includes eight sessions over four weeks.
Both programs use the same DORA-driven, UFLI-based approach with high-interest books. The difference is frequency. Once-a-week ($350) gives your child consistent weekly instruction at a steady pace. Twice-a-week ($650) doubles the sessions and is the faster path to measurable growth. For students significantly behind grade level or with dyslexia, the twice-a-week program is the recommended starting point. For students needing targeted support with less urgency, once-a-week works well.
Yes. After a 4-week program you can book another program, continue with single sessions, or take a break and return when ready. Progress notes from each session give you a clear picture of where your child is so there’s never a gap in continuity.
No. If your child has a recent DORA on file from ClearPath Homeschool Testing, we’ll use those results and waive the assessment for your program. This is one of the advantages of testing and tutoring through the same provider.
Educational Consultations
A consultation is a one-on-one Zoom meeting between you (the parent) and a Florida-certified reading specialist. It is not a tutoring session for your child. It is a conversation designed to give you clarity, a plan, and an expert perspective on whatever challenge you’re facing, whether that’s your child’s reading struggles, scholarship questions, dyslexia concerns, or curriculum decisions.
30 minutes ($85) is for one focused question. Scholarship navigation, “is tutoring right for my child,” or a single concern you need clarity on. You come in with a question, you leave with a clear answer and a written plan.

1 hour ($150) is for the full picture. A deep review of your child’s reading or writing situation, dyslexia concerns, curriculum decisions, or multiple challenges at once. You leave with a detailed written plan and clear next steps.

Both include a written summary of recommendations. If you’re unsure which to choose, start with 30 minutes.
That’s one of the most common reasons families book a consultation. If you’re not sure whether your child needs tutoring, what kind of support they need, or whether a 4-week program is the right fit, a 30-minute consultation is a low-commitment way to get an expert opinion before you invest further.
Yes. Both the 30-minute ($85) and 1-hour ($150) consultations are eligible for Step Up For Students scholarship reimbursement. Reserve the consultation on the EMA Marketplace first, then use the booking links on our Step Up Families page to schedule.
