Online Elementary Math Tutoring, One Skill at a Time.
One on one online elementary math tutoring over Zoom for any student in grades K through 5. Taught by a Florida-certified teacher. Every package begins with a Renaissance Star Math assessment, so we know which skills are solid and which are missing before the first lesson, and instruction starts right at the gap.
How Your Child Is Placed
Book a package
Step Up families reserve in the EMA Marketplace first, then book a time. Private pay families book and pay in one step.
Star Math assessment
About twenty minutes at home on any device, before session one, using a login we send you. If it is not done in time, we complete it together in session one.
The plan is set
The results show which skills are secure and where the gaps are. Instruction starts at the gap rather than at the grade level, which is usually the reason math stopped making sense.
Filling Math Gaps One Step at a Time
For students who are behind, stuck on a skill, or starting to say they are bad at math.
Any student in grades K through 5 who is behind in math, stuck on one skill that is blocking everything after it, or losing confidence fast. We work with homeschool, private school and public school families.
A child who is guessing at which operation to use does not have a word problem problem. They have a number sense problem, and that is where we start. A child who can get the right answer but has to count to do it is slow rather than wrong, and fourth grade math moves too quickly for counting.
- One skill taught explicitly with models and visuals, then practiced right away
- Number sense and math fact fluency built into every session, not saved for the end
- Word problems worked step by step, so your child learns what the question is actually asking before touching the numbers
- Skills matched to your child’s grade level and their Star Math results
- Fifty minutes, live on Zoom, same tutor every session
- A short written progress note in your inbox every week

Math Questions Parents Ask
What happens before the first math session?
Your child takes a Renaissance Star Math assessment at home, about twenty minutes on any device, using a login we send you. It shows which skills are solid and which are missing, so the first session starts right at the gap. If it is not done in time, we complete it together in session one.
Can we split a package between reading and math?
No. Each package is one subject. If your child needs both, book a reading package and a math package. They can run in the same weeks, for example eight sessions of reading and four of math.
Do you tutor math above 5th grade?
Not at this time. Math tutoring is for grades K through 5. Reading and writing are available through 12th grade.
Does my Step Up scholarship cover math tutoring?
Tutoring is an approved expense category across the Step Up programs, and math reserves exactly the same way reading does. Each program has its own rules though, and your Marketplace balance is the final word, so check your program’s handbook on the Step Up For Students site or ask Step Up directly, and reserve only what your balance allows.
If your child is enrolled in public school, eligibility varies by program, so ask Step Up. You do not need a scholarship either way. Private pay has no Marketplace step and is open to any family, in any state.
Not sure which program you have? A 30 minute consultation covers which program you have, what it can be used for, and how to navigate the Marketplace.
What technology does my child need?
A laptop or desktop with a keyboard and mouse works best, along with a working camera and microphone and a stable connection. A lot of what we do involves writing and moving things around on the screen, and that is slow going with a fingertip. An iPad is fine if that is what you have, as long as a keyboard and mouse are paired with it. Please have everything charged before we start.
Not Sure Where Your Child Is Stuck?
