Foundational Phonics Instruction
From guessing at words to confidently sounding them out. Explicit, systematic phonics instruction covering phonemic awareness, decoding and reading fluency, using a structured literacy approach aligned with the Science of Reading, so reading stops feeling like a fight.

Reading & Writing Workshop
Every article starts with a short reading interest survey, so your child is reading things they actually want to read, not generic assigned passages. We read, analyze and discuss leveled articles matched to their reading level and real interests, then apply that thinking through targeted writing instruction. A complete reading and writing course built on nonfiction, with vocabulary, grammar and text-based writing woven through every session.
Best for: students who can read but need stronger comprehension, writing, or motivation.

Novel Study
Your child picks the book from a curated list of fiction, narrative nonfiction and memoir, after a short reading interest survey. The reading assessment gives us a level range, so the book is one they can genuinely handle and actually want to read. A full language arts course built around that text.
Best for: independent readers ready for literary analysis and sustained writing.

Writing Assessment & Report
A timed, on-demand essay with a real score. Your student writes live on Zoom to a grade-level prompt aligned to Florida’s B.E.S.T. standards, and a reading specialist watches how they plan, draft and revise, not just what they turn in. You get a scored report and a plain-language plan for what to work on next.

How It Works
Getting started is straightforward. No intake packets, no waiting lists.
Book Your Package
Step Up families reserve on the EMA Marketplace first, then book through Calendly. Private pay families book and pay directly.
Star Assessment
Your child completes a Renaissance Star assessment at home, reading or math depending on the package. It takes about twenty minutes and the score comes back immediately. If it is not done before session one, we complete it together in session one.
Instruction Begins
We use the assessment results and your input to build the plan, then your child works one on one with a Florida-certified teacher over Zoom.
Weekly Progress Notes
You receive session notes, progress observations and recommended next steps in your inbox each week.
Your Child Takes a Star Reading Test First
Before session one, your child takes a Renaissance Star reading assessment. It is about twenty minutes, at home, on any device, using a login we send you. Once it is done, you get the official Renaissance report plus a plain-language summary like the one below, so instruction starts from real data, not a guess.

Your child recognizes letters and is beginning to connect letters to their sounds, a key milestone in early literacy. Right now the work is separating spoken words into smaller parts, blending sounds together, and starting to sound out simple printed words.
