Star assessment
Star Reading, or Star Math for math packages. About twenty minutes at home on any device, before session one. If it is not done in time, we complete it together in session one.
The plan is set
The results show whether the work is decoding, comprehension, writing, or a mix. For math, they show which skills to start with. If you have chosen a track, the plan is built inside it. If not, we recommend one. It can change as your child grows.
Foundational Phonics Instruction
From guessing at words to confidently sounding them out. Explicit, systematic phonics instruction covering phonemic awareness, decoding and reading fluency, using a structured literacy approach aligned with the Science of Reading, so reading stops feeling like a fight.
Early readers, and any student whose assessment shows gaps in decoding. A fourth grader who still guesses at words belongs here, not in the workshop.
- A short phonics screening in session one to pinpoint the exact skill gaps
- One sound or pattern taught explicitly, then read in words, then in sentences, then in a passage
- A timed reading at the start and end of the package so you can see fluency move

Reading & Writing Workshop
Every article starts with a short reading interest survey, so your child is reading things they actually want to read, not generic assigned passages. We read, analyze and discuss leveled articles matched to their reading level and real interests, then apply that thinking through targeted writing instruction. A complete reading and writing course built on nonfiction, with vocabulary, grammar and text-based writing woven through every session.
Students who can read but need stronger comprehension, writing, or motivation. The child who decodes fine and still cannot tell you what the page said.

Novel Study
Your child picks the book from a curated list of fiction, narrative nonfiction and memoir, after a short reading interest survey. The Star assessment gives us a level range, so the book is one they can handle and actually want to read. A full language arts course built around that text.
Independent readers ready for literary analysis and sustained writing. Also the student who says they hate reading and has never been handed a book they chose.
- We read the book together in session, so no chapter is ever “supposed to be done at home”
- Discussion, vocabulary, and text-based questions answered in writing every session
- One big question runs through the whole book and the student builds a position on it week by week
- Package one starts the novel, package two finishes it with a major writing assignment

Elementary Math Tutoring
Filling math gaps one step at a time. One-on-one math instruction for elementary students, taught by a Florida-certified elementary teacher. The Renaissance Star Math assessment shows which skills are solid and which are missing, and instruction starts right at that gap.
Students in grades K–5 who are behind in math, stuck on a skill, or starting to say they are bad at math.

A timed, on-demand essay with a real score. Your student writes live on Zoom to a grade-level prompt aligned to Florida’s B.E.S.T. writing standards, while a reading specialist watches how they plan, draft and revise.
